STAMFORD, Conn. — A El Salvadorian man was sentenced to six months in prison Monday for illegally re-entering the United States after he was found in Stamford last year.
Last July, Mauricio Arturo Madrid, also known as Mauricio Nava-Morales, 35, was arrested and eventually convicted of driving under the influence, second-degree assault, interfering/resisting arrest and assault on personnel in Stamford on state charges, a release from the U.S. attorney’s office said. He was sentenced to six years in prison, suspended after 25 months, the release said.
After he is released from state prison, he will serve his federal sentence, the release said. He pleaded guilty to a count of illegal re-entry of a removed alien in February, the release said.
Madrid had been deported to El Salvador on three separate occasions from September 2008 to August 2010, the release said. He has also been arrested 15 times since he was 23 years old, the release said.
