Officers were able to track down the driver who had fled the scene after the accident at Lafayette Street and East Main Street after viewing surveillance video from a nearby store, police said.
The driver, Esly Hernandez, 25, of 21 William St., was arrested and charged with evading and not having a driver's license. Her bond was set at $5,000.
Police said the 55-year-old woman was struck as the vehicle was making a left turn onto East Main Street. She was thrown about 15 to 20 feet by the impact, police said.
She initially got up and walked away from the scene before realizing she was badly hurt and called police.
Video obtained by police showed the driver stop, back up a little and then drive away from the scene.
