Stamford Teen Charged With Attempted Robbery

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with attempted robbery and having a fake firearm Wednesday, Sgt. Tom Scanlon said.

According to Scanlon, two teenagers asked a man for his money while he was walking home, and one of the suspects pulled what appeared to be a “shiny, black handgun.” The victim was able to get away without harm and without anything being taken.

Officers found Emmanuel Sevilla, 18, of Stamford and another male teenager in the area, Scanlon said. The victim identified Sevilla as one of the suspects, and the other teenager was let go at the scene, the sergeant said.

Police did find a facsimile weapon, the sergeant said. Scanlon was unable to give any other information on the fake weapon or how they found it.

Sevilla was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery and carrying and brandishing a facsimile firearm, police said. He was held in lieu of a $15,000 bond, police said.
