Several arrests have been made and several more arrest warrants are pending in the case that involved break-ins of unlocked vehicles and stealing credit cards, cash and merchandise from Stamford residents, police said.
An eight-month investigation into 15 vehicle thefts between April and October in Stamford concluded Monday, police said.
Credit cards that were taken from these thefts were allegedly being used in numerous stores throughout the Connecticut, police said.
Video surveillance of the suspects in numerous stores helped police identify Trevor Dixon, 31, of New Haven, and Dana Vincent, 39, of Windsor, police said.
Arrests warrants were obtained for both suspects, police said.
Dixon, who has been incarcerated on an unrelated charge, was brought to Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 28 and served with an arrest warrant for a total of 89 charges, according to police.
The charges include burglary, larceny, theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card and conspiracy. He is being held on a $200,000 bond, said police.
Vincent is still at large and is wanted on similar charges, according to police.
In an unrelated investigation, the Strawberry Hill/Hope Street area was hit with car larcenies on Christmas Eve, police said.
An officer observed two young black males acting suspiciously behind a home on Schuyler Avenue, police said.
When he confronted them, they attempted to walk off, according to police.
The officer detained them and determined that they do not live at the building, and they were charged with trespass, police said.
During a search, proceeds from several car break-ins from the Strawberry Hill/Hope Street area were discovered on the suspects, according to police.
Both suspects are juveniles and were charged with trespass, said police.
One of the juveniles allegedly had stolen money and was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. He was also charged with interfering with police and tampering with evidence because he allegedly attempted to steal the money back from the officers as they were seizing the stolen money, according to police.
