STAMFORD, Conn. Police arrested a man Monday night suspected of stealing and using the credit card of a friends grandmother in December of 2011, Sgt. Peter diSpagna said.
The victim, an 84-year-old Stamford woman, reported on Jan. 5 of this year that her credit card had been taken and used without her knowledge, diSpagna said. The card had been used a variety of different stores 50 times racking up about $2,300 in charges, the sergeant said.
After reviewing the purchases with the stores, police were able to identify Michael Anthony David, 23, of Stratford, Conn., as the suspect, and they arrested him in a Norwalk motel, diSpagna said.
Home was wherever the night took him, the sergeant said describing the difficulty of finding the suspect.
David was charged with 50 counts of second-degree identity theft, 50 counts of illegal use of a credit card, third-degree larceny, credit-card theft, and violation of probation, police said.
