Sasan Maramkhan, 27, of Stamford struck several vehicles in the downtown area and forced police officers working security at road construction jobs to move hastily out of the way, police said.
He is charged with three counts each of first-degree assault and evading responsibility plus one count each of reckless driving, disobeying an officer's signal, interfering with an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident started shortly after noon in the downtown when someone asked officers to stop a vehicle that had been in a minor accident, police said. When police attempted to do so, the motorist decided to bolt and wound his way through city streets in a low-speed pursuit before stopping on Soundview Drive in the Shippan area.
The suspect got out of his vehicle and struggled briefly with officers until he saw the Taser and obeyed police.
Maramkhan was charged but taken to a hospital after he complained of not feeling well.
No one was injured in the incident, police said.
