Manuel Mercado, 47, of 873 Washington Blvd., was charged with first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening in the incident.
Officers received a call from 133 Tresser Blvd., one of the landmark round apartment buildings in downtown Stamford, that a man was passed out on the building's lobby floor at 11:30 a.m., police said. When officers arrived, Mercado was standing -- unsteadily -- along with two of the property managers outside the building, police said.
After Mercado was rousted from the lobby by the property managers and told to leave, he uttered a threat against them, said Sgt. Kelly Connelly.
"He responded to their requests by saying, 'I will beat your asses,' " she said.
At one time, Mercado had lived in the building but is no longer allowed to visit due to previous behavior, Connelly said. He still has relatives who live in the building, but a condition of their lease is that he is not allowed to visit them at the building, she said.
Despite being told repeatedly not to enter the building, Mercado continues to do so, Connelly said. He has also been charged with trespassing at the property on March 17, she said.
When he arrived at the police station, officers had to delay completion of his processing because Mercado was too intoxicated, Connelly said.
