Police told the Stamford Advocate that 40-year-old Amin Hasan was driving through a work zone on Wire Mill Road at around 5 p.m. when he flipped off two officers working at the site and yelled something at them. He was pulled over by one of the officers, at which point he threatened to kill them, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Hasan was arrested in the fall and told a city official that he believes police are harassing him, the Stamford Advocate reported. He was ordered out of the car on Monday and as one of the officers tried to remove him, he appeared to reach for something out under his coat on the passenger seat, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Police told the Stamford Advocate that the officer hit Hasan a couple times to stun him. The officer tried to get him out of the car, but Hasan reached again under the coat, leading the officer to hit him again, according to the Stamford Advocate.
After still refusing to get out of the car, he was hit with a Taser, the Stamford Advocate reported. It had little effect and he struggled with an officer, hitting him with an elbow and knocking them to the ground, according to the Stamford Advocate. He continued to struggle and was hit with the Taser again, and continued to scream as they wrestled him to the ground and handcuffed him, police told the Stamford Advocate.
He was charged with breach of peace, threatening, resisting arrest and interfering with an office,r according to the Stamford Advocate. After undergoing treatment at Stamford Hospital, he was held on a $50,000 bond and ordered to undergo a competency exam, the Stamford Advocate reported.
