Stamford Man Charged With Burglary And Assault

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man, suspected of breaking into a house and assaulting someone was arrested Monday morning, Sgt. Paul Vaccaro said.

According to Vaccaro, here is what happened:

Merlin Marroquin broke into a home on Belltown Road where a woman he admires was staying with her boyfriend. While in the residence, he hit the male victim with a bottle. When police arrived the suspect was throwing bottles and making a mess of the house.

The man was sent to the hospital, treated for a gash on his head and released, Vaccaro said. The female victim was not injured, he said.

Marroquin, 25, was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree burglary, police said.
