Stamford Man Charged In Stabbing

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man suspected of stabbing another man during an argument just after midnight Sunday has been arrested, Sgt. Paul Vaccaro said.

The suspect, Jose Chinchilla-Godo, 35, of Stamford was woken up by the victim and the two began arguing, Vaccaro said. During the argument the victim was stabbed; he was treated at Stamford Hospital, Vaccaro said.

A witness told officers the two were arguing, but did not see a knife or a stabbing, he said.

Police found the victim covered in blood outside 14 Diaz St., where both men lived, and he was able to identify Chinchilla-Godo as the person who stabbed him, Vaccaro said. The suspect was inside the residence covered in blood, vomit, and urine, Vaccaro said.

Both were considered intoxicated and had trouble talking to officers, Vaccaro said.

The police report did not say if the officers found a knife or weapon on scene.

Chinchilla-Godo was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree assault, police said.
