Police first began to suspect Roland Roqueta, 69, in October, police said, and once his exact location was found, they quickly began doing surveillance before the arrest Wednesday. Hohn said hundreds, if not thousands, of images were confiscated from the suspect’s home along with two pairs of binoculars.
From Roqueta’s rear door there is an obstructed view of the school, although at this time police do not know if he has had contact with the children or if he ever took pictures of them, Hohn said.
The suspect also told police he has had no contact with the school and has never had children in his residence, Hohn said.
“Our concern is for the children,” he said.
Roqueta did tell police he has a problem and enjoys child pornography, Hohn said. He was not on any sexual registry anywhere in the country, the release said.
Roqueta was arrested and is expected to be charged with first-degree possession of child pornography, importing child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance, the release said. He is being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Friday, Hohn said.
Hohn specifically thanked Sgt. Joseph Kennedy, and Officers Mark Sinise and Louis Pasquino for their role in the investigation.
