The blaze was reported around 3 p.m., and the first units on scene saw smoke coming from the front door and attic, Maounis said. He believes the fire started on the first floor and spread upstairs before being extinguished.

No injuries were reported during the fire and no one was home when the blaze started, he said.

It does not appear that any monitored smoke alarms were in the home, Maounis said.

Firefighters from Stamford Fire & Rescue, Turn of River, and Belltown fire departments responded and worked to knock down the blaze, Maounis said. Stamford Police and Emergency Medical Services were also on hand.

Firefighters let the owners back into the home to collect valuables, but there is a lot of fire and water damage making it unlivable, Maounis said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office.
