Stamford Driver Charged With DUI After Near Head-On Crash

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford dad driving around the West Side with his infant child in the car was charged with drunk driving after a police officer saw him nearly crash head-on into another car, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Stamford Police stopped a local man during a DUI patrol and charged him with driving drunk with his infant son in the car.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn said he was on a roving driving under the influence patrol Saturday when he saw a minivan driving at a high rate of speed and crossing the double yellow line, nearly collided with another car, he said.

When the officer pulled the van over on Stillwater Avenue, he noticed four open beer bottles between the driver’s and passenger seats. The infant was in car seat next to his mother.

The driver, Saul Gomez-Galeano, 37, was arrested.

Police said the father's blood alcohol came back at three times the legal limit. He was charged driving while under the influence, reckless driving, driving without a license and risk of injury to a child, according to the Stamford Advocate.
