Stamford Cops: Driver Held Knife At Woman's Throat

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford police arrested a man suspected of threatening to cut a woman’s throat with a knife Tuesday night, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said.

According to Shawinsky, here is what happened: A woman got out of a car at a red light and the driver, Rondy Murphy, 49, of Manchester got out, grabbed her and put a knife to her throat. He moved the knife from her throat to her back and both got back into their car after the driver of the vehicle behind them flashed its lights.

The driver of the car behind them then called police and followed Murphy’s car until police were able to stop him, the sergeant said.

Murphy was charged with breach of peace, threatening, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of marijuana, Shawinsky said. He was held on $75,000 bond and taken to court Wednesday.
