Stamford Police nabbed a local man, who served four years of a 14-year sentence for shooting another man, with a gun while walking down the street, according to police.

Jahmar aka "Red Hot" Rhyne, 28, of Stamford, was arrested around 1 p.m. Saturday on Spruce Street after off-duty Stamford Police Officer Matt Linnehan received information Rhyne was carrying a weapon and alerted on-duty officers of his whereabouts, said Capt. Richard Conklin.

Officers from the Narcotics Squad responded and stopped Rhyne and found he was carrying a 22 caliber two-shot Remmington in his underwear, Conklin said.

Rhyne was convicted in 2012 for the 2011 shooting of a Stamford man in the arm during a dispute with a rifle. After the shooting, he fled the scene but was tracked down by officers who followed his footsteps in the snow. He was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years, which was reduced to four.

"Good work by all involved," Conklin said. "We have another gun out of the hands of a convicted felon."

Rhyne is being held on $400,000 bond due to his previous conviction.
