A witness reported gunshots on Grant Avenue just before 4 p.m., with the brothers found on nearby Lincoln Avenue, said Sgt. Chris Broems. They had run through backyards to escape the scene of the shooting, he said. Witnesses reported that some people had fled with the suspected shooters and others had fled with the victims, Broems said.
Police are still trying to piece together what happened, but received little information from the wounded brothers.
"They are not giving us any meat to go on," Broems said, hoping that police will be able to get more information Wednesday.
The older brother may have been shot twice in his right leg with the younger brother shot once in his leg, he said.
"We secured the scene and recovered four or five bullet casings," Broems said.
He said police don't believe robbery was the motive as the brothers still had their possessions, including cellphones, when officers arrived at the scene.
Police are still trying to determine the motive, he said.
