Police Capt. Richard Conklin is warning parents that they should tell their children not to pick up any handguns that they may find, especially as the weather warms up and children are spending more time outside.

Residents should not pick up or touch the handguns and should call police, who will check the weapons for fingerprints, Conklin said. Police will also perform ballistics tests to see whether they have been used in any crimes, he said.
