Stamford police are working to solve the city's first homicide in 18 months.
The shooting death of an 18-year-old Stamford man took place around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, on West Avenue, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
“We have been on the run all night interviewing and working to solve this crime," Conklin said. "At this point, we are keeping information pretty close."
Conklin said the man was shot on West Avenue in the area of Baxter Avenue and I-95.
The city's last homicide happened on Nov. 13, 2016, when Elmer Gomez Ruano strangled his estranged wife, Dionicia Bautista-Cano, to death.
