Jeyson Alonso-Castellano, age 22, of Stamford, was arrested by Stamford Police on Saturday, Aug. 20.
The incidents took place on Sunday, April 10 on the city's East Side in the area of Glenbrook Road and East Main Street; the second took place on Culloden Road, said Lt. Tom Scanlon, of the Stamford Police.
According to Scanlon, the first incident involved a 35-year-old woman who was walking her dog when Alonso-Castellano rode up on a BMX bike and grabbed her between her legs.
He then rode away and the women called police to report the assault, Scanlon said.
Detectives were able to gather surveillance video from the area which showed Alonso-Castellano on his bike.
The second incident took place when a 25-year-old woman was walking and Alonso-Castellano again rode up on the bike and grabbed her buttocks before riding away, Scanlon said.
Again, police were able to gather surveillance from the area that showed Alonso-Castellano. Detectives ran a picture of the video in local newspapers in hopes of identifying him, Scanlon said.
Once identified, an arrest warrant was obtained and Alonso-Castellano showed up at Stamford Police Headquarters, where he did admit to being in the areas, but denied groping the women, he added.
Both women were later able to pick Alonso-Castellano out of a photo lineup, Scanlon said.
Following the positive ID, he was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault.
He is being held on a total of $75,000 bond.
