No injuries were reported during the 11:53 p.m. incident, according to police. It began when Idris Hassan Gay, of Connecticut Avenue, struck up a conversation with two teens while the three were sitting at separate tables in the McDonald’s at Bedford and Broad streets, police said.
The conversation quickly turned into an argument, police said, and it spilled out of the restaurant onto the street.
Gay chased the men on Bedford Street, pulled out a knife and threatened them, police said. The pair called the police, who apprehended Gay a short while later.
Officers recovered a 6-inch folding knife, with a two-and-a-half-inch blade, from Gay, police said. He was charged with misdemeanor second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and carrying a dangerous weapon.
Gay was released after posting $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court later this month.
