STAMFORD, Conn., -- A pharmacy technician stole about $5,000 in prescriptions from a Stamford CVS over a period of a year, Stamford Police said.

Anna Ambrus, 36, of 56 Old Elm Road, Fairfield, was charged Wednesday with one count each of third-degree larceny, illegal possession of narcotics and obtaining drugs illegally. She posted a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2.

Police were contacted by CVS’s regional loss prevention manager on July 6 about the alleged thefts that took place from July of last year to mid June, Sgt. Kelly Connelly said. Police said the manager had video of an employee stealing prescription medicines from the pharmacy.

Ambrus allegedly admitted to taking the prescriptions, Connelly said.
