Crash Between Truck, Utility Poles Shuts Down Busy Boulevard Both Ways In Stamford

A crash between a truck and several utility poles has resulted in the closure of Washington Boulevard in Stamford in both directions.

The crash took place around 10:57 a.m. Friday causing live lines to come down at the corner of Broad Street and Washington Boulevard, Stamford Police said.

While Eversource works to repair the poles, northbound and southbound lanes have been closed at North Street, police said.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area as traffic is backed up. The closure could last for several hours.
