STAMFORD, Conn. A Stamford man was arrested after police discovered he was driving a stolen motorcycle, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said.
Police stopped Jhony Bonilla-Ochoa, and another motorcycle rider after the two were caught speeding on Broad Street Wednesday evening, Shawinsky said. The arresting officer ran the vehicle's identification number, which matched one reported stolen in Derby in 2011, police said.
Bonilla-Ochoa, 26, told police he bought the 2009 Yamaha motorcycle from a guy for $8,500, and received a title and bill of sale, but did not know it was stolen, Shawinsky said. He was charged with third-degree larceny, operating a motorcycle without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and improper use of registration, police said.
The other rider was given a summons for several traffic violations, including operating an unregistered motor vehicle, Shawinsky said. Both motorcycles were towed from the scene, he said.
