Stamford Police received a call for help around 3:26 a.m. Thursday, July 5 on Henry Street for a report of a man who had entered the home while the residents were sleeping and then attacked one of the residents, according to the Stamford Police.
When the units arrived they found an 18-year-old teen bleeding from the face and head. The teen told officers that while he was sleeping he was awoken by a noise and saw a man leaving his room with his money jar, the police department said.
The victim then confronted the man in the hallway and the suspect, identified as Stephon Linton, 48, of Stamford, threw the ceramic money jar at him causing severe facial injuries, police said.
By then, other residents in the house awoke and saw Linton climb through a kitchen window in which police believe he entered the house through. The residents confronted Linton who took up a fighting stance to attack before running off toward South Pacific Street, police said.
A short time later, Officer Dave Dogali and his K-9 Bobi arrived and started a track. As the officers started to follow the track towards Atlantic Street they observed a man fitting the description of the suspect provided.
Linton started to run on Henry Street and he was apprehended by Officer John Derisme, Dogali and K-9 Bobi in front of 79 Henry Street, Stamford police said.
Linton, who has an extensive history of burglary and narcotics offenses, was positively identified by the victim, police said.
He was charged with burglary, assault, and criminal attempt at larceny. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
The Stamford Police commended the bravery of the victim to come forward and assist in the investigation after the harrowing ordeal.
The department also recognized the good work of Officers Derisme, Kevin Lochard and Raymond Fortuna for their assistance in this case, as well Dogali and K-9 Bobi for the track that led to the apprehension of Linton.
