Buyer Beware As Stamford Woman Is Scammed On Pair of TV's

STAMFORD, Conn, -- It's never a good sign after a deal when the sellers leave as quickly as possible once they have cash in hand, as a Stamford woman found out.

Stamford Police say two men scammed a woman out of $350 during deal to buy pair of televisions.

The woman made a deal with two men who were behind her Clinton Avenue building selling televisions out of the back of their van, police said.

The woman arranged to buy the televisions with sound systems for $375 but she never checked the boxes. She gave the money to the men who quickly drove away and took the boxes into her apartment.

When she opened them she only found the sound systems but no televisions, said Sgt. Simon Blanc.
