8-Year-Old Hit By Car In Stamford Suffers Serious Injuries

STAMFORD, Conn. — An 8-year-old Stamford child was in the hospital in serious but stable condition after being struck Wednesday evening by a vehicle on Hope Street in Stamford, police said.

Stamford police are investigating a car-pedestrian accident that saw an 8-year-old taken to hospital Wednesday night with serious injuries and remains in stable condition after being struck on Glenbrook Road.

The accident occurred in the area of 292 Glenbrook Road at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday, police said. A 2009 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 40-year-old Fairfield woman, was traveling north on Glenbrook Road when she struck the youth, who was crossing the street, police said.

The youth suffered broken ribs and a broken leg as well as lung and head injuries in the crash, police said. The driver of the Toyota was not injured, police said. 

There is an active police investigation underway. The Stamford Police Department is asking that anyone with information related to the accident to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at 203-977-4712.
