Police were making a welfare check at 388 Courtland Ave. after finding the woman's 5-year-old daughter unharmed but alone in the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City in the morning, the Advocate said.
Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority Police Department told Daily Voice that the young girl was found unattended on the second floor and was taken to Port Authority police facility. She said she had traveled with her father from Connecticut by bus and that he left her on the second floor concourse, he said.
The girl helped lead police to the apartment in Stamford, which she had just moved from New Jersey over the weekend with her mother and father, the Advocate said. There were signs of struggle in the apartment, and police are now searching for the woman's husband, Elmer Gomez Ruono, 32, the Advocate said.
He is about 5-foot-8 and weighs 140 pounds with long black hair, the Advocate said. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call investigators at 203-977-4421.
