STAMFORD, Conn. — Two people in a car hit multiple times in a drive-by shooting early Sunday in Stamford remained hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit, according to police.

At 2:40 a.m., Stamford police received a 911 call from a woman who said that she and her boyfriend had been shot and were looking for medical help at the front entrance of Stamford Hospital. The woman had been shot twice and the man had been hit six times, police said.

Stamford officers responded and found a Black 2012 Nissan Sentra on the front sidewalk of the Stamford Hospital entrance at 1 Hospital Plaza, police said. Because the entrance was closed, EMS transported them to the Emergency Room at the back of the building, police said.

The 21-year-old woman, who was driving, sustained two gunshot wounds to her abdomen and right leg, police said. She underwent surgery and was in stable condition late Sunday morning in the ICU at Stamford Hospital, police said.

The 28-year-old male victim was shot six times, with injuries in the right leg, groin, right arm and abdomen, police said. He was in the ICU awaiting surgery late Sunday morning, police said.

The woman told police that they were leaving a nightclub on Greenwich Avenue and headed toward I-95 when someone pulled alongside their car and started shooting. She could not give an exact location of the shooting incident, and police had not determined the site as of late Sunday morning.

She then drove to the hospital. The man was not cooperating with officers there, police said.

The vehicle had been shot at nine times, police said.

Police are asking anyone who has information in the shooting to call the Stamford Police Detective Bureau at 203-977-4417. All calls will be kept confidential.
