STAMFORD, Conn. — Two men from New York, including one from Westchester, have been arrested after a bloody and violent home invasion late Monday in the Belltown neighborhood of Stamford, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The incident at 11 p.m., when the two suspects knocked on the door of a home on Alton Home and the homeowner, who was alone, answered while carrying a knife, Capt. Richard Conklin told the Advocate.

The two suspects — identified as Joseph Donofrio, 32, of Hawthorne, and Michael Polizzi, 31, of the Bronx — began to viciously beat the 46-year-old victim, the Advocate said.

The attack spilled into the yard, with the homeowner able to stab one of his attackers, police told the Advocate. The victim was beaten "beyond recognition," the Advocate reported.

Charges against Donofrio and Polizzi included home invasion, armed robbery and first-degree assault. Each man was held on $500,000 bond for arraignment on Tuesday.
