STAMFORD, Conn. – Yvonne Arias Rivers, 94, of Stamford, died Saturday, July 25.
Born in New York City, she grew up in Cannes, France, before arriving in New Jersey just prior to the start of World War II. Shortly thereafter, she moved to New York City, where she lived until the late 1980s. She then lived in Clearwater, Florida, before moving to Stamford in 1997. An avid tennis player, she was a member of the Westchester Country Club for over 40 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest W. Rivers, and a sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Rivers; son Brian Rivers (Joanne); two grandchildren; and a niece.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 1 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Shippan's Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home (next to Knights of Columbus) 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford.
