Victor J. Guarino, 79, Of Stamford, Co-Owned Thunderbird Luncheonette

STAMFORD, Conn. - Victor Joseph Guarino, a Stamford resident, died Sunday, Dec. 7. He was 79.

Guarino was born July 6, 1935, to Anthony Guarino Sr. and Vincenza (Longo) Guarino. Born and raised in Springdale, he attended Stamford schools and served in the U.S. Army.

Along with his brother Angelo, he owned and operated the Thunderbird Luncheonette on Hope Street, and several other food-related businesses. Guarino worked at Blueline Sports for many years.

Guarino is survived by his wife, Lois Brooks Guarino; children, Victor Guarino Jr., Janice DePalma (Anthony DePalma), A.G. Guarino (Tamara Raymond Guarino); and eight grandchildren; brother-in-law, Nick DeMaio; sisters-in-laws, Claire McCarthy and Etta Riccio Guarino; and 18 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Samuel Guarino, Sr., Angelo Guarino, Joseph Guarino, Anthony Guarino, Jr.; and sisters, Louise Ferrara, Margaret (Molly) DeMaio, and Ida Guarino.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at St. John's Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Darien. Calling hours will be private.
