Theodore Martino, 83, Of Stamford, Retired Postal Service Employee

STAMFORD, Conn. - Theodore Martino of Stamford died Thursday, May 16. He was 83.

Martino was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Stamford, to Gene and Mary DePrisco Martino. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, also a graduate of Stamford High Class, class of 1947 and was saxophone player in his younger years in various Stamford and New York Clubs. He retired as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and was a former co-owner of Springdale Laundry of Stamford.

Martino is survived by his sons, Gene Martino (Cora) of Stamford, Kenneth T. Martino (Enza) of Monroe; daughter, Maryann Matheny (Mike) of South Carolina; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Ann M. Zaccagnino Martino.

Calling hours are Monday, May 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home Tuesday, May 21 at 9:20 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.
