Rich was born in Stamford on July 22, 1938, to Anthony Rich Sr. and Concetta Candelmo Rich. He lived in West Haven and was a former resident of Stamford.
He was a captain and fire marshal with the Stamford Fire Department for 20 years before retiring in 1988. He was also a property manager for New England Land.
Rich was a U.S. Army veteran who served with the National Guard of Connecticut.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Yaeger Rich; his children, Albert Rich Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Craig Rich and his wife Victoria and Kimberly Corelli and her husband Anthony; and grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Nick, CJ, Christian, Kyle, Anthony Albert and Giuliana. Also surviving are his sisters, Gloria Lanzaro, Theresa Carlucci, Nancy Costanzo and his brothers, Joseph Rich Sr. and William Rich, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 30.
A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:10 a.m. Monday, July 31, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Stamford Firefighters Burn Foundation Local 786, Stamford Headquarters, 2nd Floor, 629 Main St., Stamford, CT 06901 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
