Romano E. Pompa, 76, Longtime Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. - Romano E. Pompa longtime resident of Stamford died Thursday, April 4. He was 76.

Pompa was born Oct. 13, 1936, in Settefrati, Italy, to Francesco and Filomena (Capocci) Pompa. He immigrated to the United States from Italy June 1956 and took up work in the construction trade as a laborer. He attended technical school for drafting and worked until he had his own building and general contracting business. He was a life member of the Fairfield Fish & Game Club, Newtown Fish & Game Club and the NRA.

Pompa is survived by his wife, Vincenza; his children, Filomena Musilli Diurno (Lorenzo), of Wilton, Francesco Pompa (Limor), of Greenwich and Caterina Caron (Hugh), of Jacksonville, Fla.; his six grandchildren; his three sisters, Angela Socci (Joseph), of Riverside, Maria Buzzeo, of Clinton and Loretta Buzzeo (Gino), of New Canaan; his three brothers-in-law, Mario Volante (Marina), of Bridgeport, Ferdinando Volante (Irene), of Italy, and Vincenzo Volante (Gina), of Italy; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Luigi and Antonio; a son-in-law, Tony Musilli, and his brother-in-law, Angelo Buzzeo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, in Stamford. At the family's request, interment will be private. The Pompa family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford.
