Peter Lesta, 86, Longtime Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Peter Lesta, a 56-year resident of Stamford, died Sept. 1 at his home with family at his side. He was 86. 

Born May 20, 1926, in Glenville, Conn., he was the son of Karol and Juliana Skronowski Lesta. He served in the Army during World War II and was member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lesta was self-employed as a professional landscaper. 

He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Frances Rysz Lesta; a brother-in-law, Walter (Virginia) Rysz; a niece, Carol Rysz (Justin) Cole; and several nieces and nephews. Lesta was predeceased by six brothers. 

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will then be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Greenwich.
