STAMFORD, Conn. Mary "Nani" Alves, a former Stamford resident, died July 6 at Maefair Health Care Center in Trumbull, surrounded by family. She was 88.
Born Dec. 26, 1923, in Bridgeport, Alves was a daughter of Frank and Fannie Corritori Colello. She was married to Antonio "Tony" Alves.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Olson, of Trumbull; a son, Anthony F. (Arline) Alves, of Trumbull; a brother, Jack Colello; a sister, Rose Colello; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Antonio; a son-in-law, Edward Olson; five brothers, Chico, Frank, Michael, Louis and Daniel Colello; and a sister, Yetta Colello.
Visitation is at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home in Stamford from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m, Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
