Mary Lohotsky, 90, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Mary Barbara Lohotsky, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Dec. 20 at Stamford Hospital. She was 90.

The daughter of John and Tekla Paulishok Koczanski, she was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Stamford. She was married for 62 years to Walter Lohotsky, a retired Stamford firefighter. She worked as a bookkeeper for St. Basil High School and College for 40 years.

At home, Lohotsky enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking meals for them to enjoy. Lohotsky loved travel and practicing her faith. One of her fondest memories was a trip to Rome to watch as her friend, the Rev. Myroslav Lubachivsky, was elevated to cardinal.

She enjoyed completing daily crossword puzzles, as well as watching her favorite trivia show, "Jeopardy." She was a lifetime member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Stamford, where she sang in the choir.

Lohotsky is survived by her husband, Walter; a daughter, Michelle (Gary) Honulik; a son, Walter (Patricia) Lohotsky; and three grandchildren. Lohotsky was predeceased by her twin brother, Peter; and her brother, Elmer.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Greenwich.
