STAMFORD, Conn. - Maria Bakaj of Stamford died Saturday, May 18. She was 93.
Bakaj was born July 23, 1919, in Ukraine to Michael and Anastasia Cap.
Bakaj is survived by her son, Stephen Bakaj (Emilia) of Stamford; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Julian Bakaj.
Calling hours are Wednesday, May 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902. A Panahyda Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the funeral home. A funeral procession will leave at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, May 23 from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 24 Wenzel Terrace, Stamford. Interment will follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, N.Y.
