Josephine Melfi, 87, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Josephine M. Melfi, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at her residence. She was 87.

Born June 22, 1927, she was the daughter of Charles L. Davis and Josephine (Kaelin) Davis. Melfi touched many lives through her work as a paraeducator in the nedia center at Westhill High School for the past 29 years.

She is predeceased by her husband, Vito J. Melfi. She is survived by her three loving daughters, Jeanie Melfi-Smith and her husband Mark, of Trumbull; Jo-Anne Melfi and her husband Donald Clark, of Reston, Va.; and Janis Melfi of Milford; one loving son, Joseph A. Melfi of Norwalk; one brother; three sisters; several nieces and nephews; and her grand-puppy, Waylon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at The Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic St., Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Relatives and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford from 4-8 p.m. Thursday  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
