STAMFORD, Conn. - Joseph P. Lukiw of Stamford died Tuesday, Sept. 17. He was 84.
Lukiw was born March 16, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Paul and Anna Brylinski Lukiw. He was a member of the Ukrainian Providence Association as well as a member of LUC. He also served in the United States Army and was a retired teacher for New Canaan Public Schools.
Lukiw is survived by his sisters, Sister Theodosia O.S.B.M. of New York, N.Y., and Sister Chrysostom O.S.B.M. of Fox Chase, Pa.; brother, Paul Lukiw of Mokena, Ill.; and nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Sophie Nosenzo. Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford with a Panahyda Service to take place at 5 p.m. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Monday, Sept. 23 at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 24 Wenzel Terrace, Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien.
