Joseph DiSalvo, 85, Stamford WWII Veteran

STAMFORD, Conn. – Joseph J. DiSalvo, a longtime Stamford resident, died Sept. 6 at his home, surrounded by family. He was 85. 

DiSalvo was born May 24, 1927, in New York City to Angela Trerattero and Alfonso Diovisalvo. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Marilynn Wicks on July 19, 1975.

He worked in sales for General Electric Credit Corporation for more than 40 years. He was passionate about his sports teams, including the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, and being outdoors. 

DiSalvo was a member of the Halloween Yacht Club and enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, skiing and playing golf. He also loved to spend time working in his vegetable garden and growing tomatoes. 

He is survived by his wife, Marilynn; a son, Joseph M. (Jo Ann) DiSalvo, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; five daughters, Gerianne Gabrielle, of Carmel, N.Y., Donna (Michael) DiScala, of Norwalk, Conn., Jennifer (Todd) Cornell, of Richmond, Va., Cynthia G. (Derrick) Hart, of Stamford, and Alice (Chris) Jent, of Columbus, Ohio; and 15 grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore and John DiSalvo; and two sisters, Maria DiSalvo and Jeanne Riley  

A funeral service was celebrated Monday at First United Methodist Church. Bosak Funeral Home handled arrangements.
