John R. Callow, 91, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. - John Robert Callow of Stamford died Tuesday, March 11. He was 91.

Callow was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Will Callow and Grace (Hanson) Callow. He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn and then Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., and was a member of the Ski Club. He served as a communications officer in the United States Navy on the USS Fulton in the Pacific during World War II.

For over 25 years he and his family lived in Stamford while he served as director of sales for CBS Radio and Mutual Broadcasting in New York City. For 22 years after his retirement John and Betty lived in Savannah, Ga., where he worked at the Ships of the Sea Museum.

Callow is survived by his daughters, Janet Callow of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Kathleen Hull (Gary) of New Fairfield; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. March 14 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury.
