John N. Campbell, 70, Of Stamford, Volunteer Pilot

STAMFORD, Conn. - John N. Campbell, a resident of Stamford, and a former Darien resident, died Friday, May 24. He was 70.

Campbell was born July 6, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Frances and Sara Campbell. He  graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, N.Y., and received a business degree from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. He served in the U. S. Army from 1967 to 1972. He worked in IT Sales for IBM, Wang Technologies, and Zycad Corporation before retiring in 1998. He worked as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, a non-profit group that arranges free air transportation for the sick.

Campbell is survived by his wife, Barbara Post Campbell; daughters, Kimberly Campbell Conti (Christopher) of Rutherford, N.J.; Amy Campbell (Todd) Bennett of San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren; sister, Sally Goit of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and brother, Bart Campbell of Patterson, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Thursday, May 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. Services and interment will be private.
