Eric Costigan, 76, Formerly Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Eric Paul Costigan, a former Stamford resident, died Jan. 16 in Winston-Salem, N.C., with family by his side. He was 76.

He was born Dec. 15, 1936 in Queens, N.Y., to Phillip Richard and Sonia Ecdahl Costigan. He worked at Capitol Records in Stamford for 25 years before moving to Wilmington, N.C., in 2000. He later moved to Winston-Salem in 2010.

Costigan enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid reader and history buff.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Generosa "Jean" Costigan, of Winston-Salem; two stepdaughters, Linda Vitti, of Wilton, and Sandra Memoli, of Winston-Salem; a brother, Phillip (Mary) Costigan, of Wagoner, Okla.; three sisters, Nancy (George) Poli, of Moor Park, Calif., Marguerite (Terry) Sanford, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Phyllis Costigan, of Blanco, Texas; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by a brother, Conrad Costigan; a sister, Barbara Costigan; and a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Vitti.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Stamford. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
