Elizabeth Volante, 83, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Elizabeth "Betty" Fraser Volante, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Stamford Hospital. She was 83.

Volante was born April 2, 1929, in Stamford to James and Elizabeth Stephen Fraser. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford in 1947. She was married to Archie K. Volante, who predeceased her.

She was employed by Machlett Labs of Stamford from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. Volante returned to work in 1968 for Clairol Inc. in Stamford. She retired in 1992.

Volante is survived by two daughters, Arlene E. Volante and Debbie K. (Danny) Murphy, both of Stamford; an honorary daughter, Michele (John) Schroeder, of Stamford; a grandson; three honorary grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at noon Monday at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Stamford. Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Stamford is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in support of Dr. Denise Faustman's search for a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
