Eleanor Kolb, 91, Longtime Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Eleanor Dorothy Kolb, a longtime Stamford resident, died Nov. 26 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by family after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's disease. She was 91.

Born Feb. 24, 1921, in the Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of Joseph and Esther Hines. She married W. Kolb on May 10, 1947, at St. Anthony's Church in the Bronx. He survives her.

Kolb was a parishioner of St. Cecilia Church. She worked for Nestle's Chocolates, Hooker Chemical Co. and General Signal Corp. before she and her husband retired to Punta Gorda, Fla., in 1984.

She was at her happiest sharing memories and advice with family and friends, as well as playing tennis, participating in aerobics and sailing the Florida Gulf Coast with the Punta Gorda Boat Club.

Kolb is survived by a son, Robert A. Kolb, of Stamford. She was predeceased by two sisters, Esther Mako and Albina Epstein; and two brothers, Joseph Hines and Thomas Hines.

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at St Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stamford Hospital Bennett Cancer Center Hope in Motion.
