Daniel DeVarti, 71, Stamford Business Owner

STAMFORD, Conn. – Daniel Robert DeVarti, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Dec. 7 at home, with his wife, Donna, at his side. He was 72.

Born Aug. 16, 1940, he was the son of Amerigo and Blanche Coppola DeVarti. He founded DeVarti Electric Company more than 30 years ago. DeVarti served as a Eucharist minister and a lector at Sacred Heart Church.

He also served as president of the Holy Name Society and the Sacred Heart Parish Council. DeVarti was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.

DeVarti is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Gallichio DeVarti; two daughters, Deborah (Brian) Gilronan of Trumbull and Dawn (Dominick) Bria of Stamford; a brother, Ralph (Tina) DeVarti of Port Chester N.Y.; two sisters, Joan Casillo of Stamford and Mildred DeVarti of California; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Joseph Casillo.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Bosak Funeral Home in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be private.
