STAMFORD, Conn. Cecilia "Martha" Gordon Gruber, a former Stamford teacher, who lived in Trumbull, died June 30 at St. Joseph's Manor. She was 101.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull. Burial will be private.
The daughter of Walter P. and Mary Elizabeth Hoffman Gordon, she was born and raised in Somerville, Mass. Married to the late Gilbert S. Gruber, she was a former resident of Delray Beach, Fla., Stamford, Heritage Village in Southbury and Carmel Ridge in Trumbull.
Gruber worked as a first-grade teacher in Stamford. She enjoyed social events, being in contact with friends and her longtime friendship with Stanley Wasik. Family celebrations were most important to her. She also was interested in current events and politics.
Gruber is survived by two daughters, Martha Gail (Dr. Roger) Ratchford, of Norwalk, and Kathleen M. Gruber, of Stratford; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a brother, Ludwig Peter Gordon.
