Carmella DiNapoli Cantavero, 84, Longtime Darien Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Carmella DiNapoli Cantavero, a Stamford resident and former longtime Darien resident, died on Thursday, Jan. 8 in Stamford Hospital. She was 84.

Born on May 15, 1930 in Stamford, Cantavero was the daughter of Rocco and Bernadette (DeMala) DiNapoli. Cantavero graduated from Stamford High School in 1948. She loved reading, baking and gardening. Florida was her favorite place to vacation. 

She is survived by her children, Donna Davis of Darien; Nicholas Tarzia of Darien; Bernadette Napolitano (Robert) of Redding; and Camille Andriunas (Gregory) of Darien; her ten grandchildren; and her seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, her sister, and her brother. She was preceded in death by her grandson, her brother, and her husband, Peter Cantavero. 

The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road in Darien, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16. A service will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 S.E. 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, Fla. 33131 or the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk, Conn. 06854.
