Anthony Caruso, 92, Stamford WWII Veteran

STAMFORD, Conn. – Anthony "Tony" Caruso of Stamford died Nov. 11 at Stamford Hospital. He was 92.

He was born May 9, 1920, to Carmella Vaccaro and Frank Caruso. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Manila, Philippines. After the war, he worked for the 7UP Company for 25 years.

Caruso later joined Clairol and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church, where he as an usher for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucy Buzzeo Caruso; a daughter, Barbara (Mark) Boccuzzi, of Bridgewater, Conn.; a brother, Michael Caruso, of California; a sister-in-law, Penny Caruso; two brothers-in-law, Louis Buzzeo and Michael (Jill) Buzzeo; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, James Caruso, Peter Casuro and Frank Caruso; and two sisters, Theresa Caruso and Josephine Burke.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. Lacerenza Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Stamford handled the arrangements.
